Ally + Nick

Wedding date: MARCH 9, 2016

Photography: Linda Pasfield Photography

Venue: Riversdale Estate/Tasmania Golf Club

The meeting

Ally and Nick were first introduced by Ally’s brother, Sam, in 2011. Nick and Sam had played football together at Bothell, and all three were at the Castle Hotel after the game. Ally and Nick ran into each other a few times socially over the following six months before they struck up a relationship.

The proposal

Nick proposed marriage to Ally as part of a weekend away at Stewarts Bay Lodge in May 2015. Said Ally, “Nick was worried that I’d find the ring in his bag, so he settled me into our accommodation with a glass of Champagne whilst he got our bags out of the car. He then simply pulled the ring out and popped the question!”

The wedding

Ally and Nick’s wedding ceremony was held at Riversdale Estate in Cambridge. They chose Riversdale in part, due to the beautiful location, but also because there was a family connection to the property. Ally’s Great Uncle had once owned it.

Their reception was held at the Tasmania Golf Club, and said Ally, “I cannot praise the staff there enough; they just made everything so easy and did everything they could to make sure everything ran smoothly in the lead up and on the day; which is exactly what a stressed out bride needs!”

“There was no particular theme for our wedding,” Ally said. “We just wanted it to be relaxed and simple.”

“The thing I loved most was that everyone really seemed to have a good time. It was relaxed and fun and exactly how we wanted it to be!” she added.

Highlights and hitches

There were a couple of small hitches on Ally and Nick’s wedding day. The wrong song began playing as Ally walked down the aisle – “but [it was] nothing that anyone other than us would have noticed,” she said.

“The highlight was just having all of our favourite people there enjoying themselves. Our DJ was a friend of ours and he played great tunes that got everyone up and dancing, and we also had a photo booth which resulted in some really great photos of all our guests throughout the evening,” Ally said.

Tips for other couples

• Make sure you feel comfortable with the people and companies you are using; such as your photographer, celebrant, venue etc; it makes your day (and the lead up to it) so much more relaxing if you trust these people to help make your day run smoothly!
