Bomboniere also known as “favours”, are small gifts given by hosts to their guests on special occasions such as weddings, baptisms, First Communion or Confirmation. They traditionally include Jordan Almonds, known in Italian as Confetti. Five sugared almonds symbolize health, wealth, happiness, fertility and long life.

The tradition of giving bomboniere to guests dates back several centuries. The french gave elaborate boxes filled with sweet delicacies to wedding guests as a gesture of gratitude.

Bomboniere can be as unique as the couple getting married.
Whilst many stick to tradition, others give their guests candy or individual cakes in beautiful boxes, tea or preserves in cute little jars, or after the wedding, the couple send out their ‘thank-yous’ with a little memento from their honeymoon. Candy buffets are also popular as your guests can pick and choose what they put in their bag.

Traditionally bomboniere parcels are given to each guest or each couple, and you should always order more than you need, as you will most likely need spares, or give them as a thank you to your wedding suppliers.
