How to choose your wedding transport

wedding transportWhether you have set your heart on fairy tale transportation like a horse-drawn carriage, or a vintage car is more to your taste, there’s a few things to consider.

Your budget

When it comes to your transport, budget will obviously play a big factor, so while you might have dreams for that over-the-top fairytale entrance, in reality you will have to decide on how important this is to you. If you spend big on your transport, then it’s likely you will have to sacrifice something else, so have a think about where your wedding priorities lie.

Your theme

You’ve agonised over the colour scheme and theme for your wedding; the last thing you want to do is ruin it with hastily chosen transport. If you are planning on having photographs taken with your mode of transport, then it will need to fit with your overall theme. Consider the colour of the vehicle and how it may look against your dress. Also ask whether your hire company will be adding accessories such as ribbons and if they can be customised to match your colour scheme.

The weather

The weather will always have a bearing on the success of your day and it’s important that you take it into consideration when choosing transport. If you go for an open-top vehicle, then what will happen if it’s raining or it’s freezing cold? Hopefully your hire company will be prepared for these eventualities and be ready with an umbrella or blanket at worst.

We’ve considered the practicalities of who needs to travel with who, but what about the condition you will be in when you arrive at your wedding? Convertibles, motorbikes and other open-top means will leave you exposed to the elements, resulting in a potentially ‘bedraggled’ bride. Arriving on a motorbike might sound great in theory – but you’ll need time (and maybe your stylist) to straighten you out when you arrive. Maybe your dress just won’t be practical for sitting on a Harley anyway.

Quality or cost?

As always, don’t go with the cheapest option. Low cost may also mean low quality. Try and go with a reputable company that someone has recommended, so it’s at least one less thing to worry about. Remember it is your big day, so make the most of it and travel in style!
