What are some of the things brides and grooms should consider when they’re choosing a marriage celebrant?
They should plan to meet with the celebrant and should feel a warm connection with them. They need to ask questions about the ceremony and what the celebrant can provide to assist them.
How can a bride and groom maximise their time spent when meeting with their marriage celebrant?
Have some key questions prepared before your meeting. Perhaps even let your celebrant know what they are so they can be fully prepared.
Do you recommend couples writing their own vows?
I usually provide a basic structure with the legal wording then encourage the couple to add as much as they can. Sometimes some special secret wording by each of the parties works well. I have many resources to recommend.
What’s your advice for couples who choose to do so?
To think about what this marriage means for them and to choose words that reflect that. Remember, it’s your wedding.
What is your favourite part about your job?
The reward of seeing happy couples thrilled with their wedding day. I enjoy working with lovely couples and helping to provide a unique ceremony.
What advice would you give to brides and grooms to ensure their wedding day runs more smoothly?
To be well organised and to relax and try to enjoy the moments of the wedding.
