You may have noticed on our Facebook page, we have been counting down the top trends to look out for in 2018. Some trends are relatively new, and others that will carry over from 2017. One of these being donuts. I am not sure when the donuts saga commenced, but the dough is here to stay!
Top Trend #1- Custom “living” bars will be a go to for refreshments. Freshly cut foliage fronted with a laser-cut painted wood veneer or stained latticework covered in climbing clematis are just a few snap-worthy ways of transforming the bar experience.
Top Trend #2 / Potted Plants as Aisle Décor – What better way to pay homage to the quintessential English garden than using potted plants in your ceremony décor? The pots themselves can be wrapped in silk fabrics to hide the pot and create a harmonious decor that blends with the natural environment.
Top Trend #3 / Moody, Colourful florals – The big trend for 2018 will be darker, detailed, and textured florals. We’ve been in a beautiful lull of soft, lush, flowers with lots of greenery, but dark colours are going to be making an appearance in 2018. We’re forecasting colour palettes to take a turn towards shades of purples, including wine, lilac, lavender, and mauve.
Top Trend #4 / Textured table linen – We’ll see more laser-cut, illusion reception details in white and neutral tones. “Think lots of textured linens.”
Top Trend #5 – Unique Weddings Gowns. Moving away from the traditions of the past, brides are increasingly looking for more comfortable, relaxed and even colourful wedding dresses. This may include vibrant floral embroidery, light and floaty designs and even vintage summer dresses.
Top Trend #6 Back to Nature – The overarching theme to look out for next year is a back-to-basics, minimalist feel to the wedding day. Woodland centrepieces, lots of natural light, rustic décor – this is the aesthetic couples will look to purvey across their special day. Resulting in a more relaxed and natural atmosphere, this theme looks as if it will enjoy a real boom in 2018
Top Trend #7 / Quirky Entertainment – In 2018, we are thinking outside the box. Traditional fairground games, pop-up tattoo parlours and even a silent disco are among their suggestions!
Top Trend #8 / Nearly naked cakes – Goodbye naked cakes, hello translucent cakes! The new trend in naked cakes is to have a thin scraping of buttercream on the outside, which keeps the cake from going dry while still letting the sponge poke through. It looks just as pretty, too!
Top Trend #9 / Hanging flowers are the floral decor of the moment. Couples are keeping their guest tables simple and focusing more on ceiling treatments.
Top Trend #10 / Dessert Bars – Over the last few years, we have started to see more couples wanting to give their wedding guests options for what to eat for dessert! Rather than just solely serving up the traditional wedding cake, most weddings now will have a dessert bar. Filled with sample cake bites, mini cupcakes, cream puffs, chocolate truffles and assorted donuts.
