Who says bridal skincare routines need to be complicated? Take it back to basics with a simple but effective pre-wedding beauty routine.
When fashion blogger and influencer Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Girl tied the knot earlier this year and revealed just how extensive her pre-wedding beauty prep was, brides-to-be everywhere got a little nervous. Is this what it takes to achieve “bride ready” status these days?
Three facials per week, microdermabrasion, sonophoresis sessions, custom peels using lactic acid and enzyme formulations, vitamin infusions, light therapy… Phew! Who’s got that kind of time? (Or money?!).
Here at Weddings, we believe achieving an enviable complexion starts with some simple steps – namely, a good cleanse-tone-moisturise routine using proven, quality products.
Dalia Stoddard, VP of Product Development at dermatology-based skincare brand Rodan+Fields, knows everything there is to know about caring for your skin. She answered some pressing skincare questions all brides will want the answers to.
When should brides start preparing their skin for their big day?
“Brides who don’t have a daily routine should start well in advance of the wedding. In fact, to see the best visible results we recommend [addressing any skin issues] for at least two full months [before the wedding].
“Like your wedding planning, you need to have a solid foundation and then build on the other pieces. So, if you have sensitive skin, you would need to address the sensitive skin first before addressing any discoloration or fine lines. You may have to assess your skin needs multiple times throughout your wedding planning process.
“For a picture perfect wedding, head-to-toe, start your wedding skincare routine when you start shopping for your wedding dress!”
Why are skin routines so important? What are the benefits of following a skin cleansing-toning-moisturising routine every day?
“Integrating a skincare regimen into your daily routine helps provide visible results but it must be done correctly.
“Many people use different products from varying brands that may or may not be working correctly together. Because of this, they do not see the visible results they desire.
“Rodan+Fields’ regimens feature multi-step science – the right ingredients in the right formulations in the right order. Our 4-step Regimen model (cleanser, toner, moisturiser and sunscreen) allows for ingredients to work together in tandem to target specific skincare concerns.
Australia’s harsh sun can be extremely damaging to the skin. Is there a single ingredient you can use to address the damage caused by the sun?
“While a single miracle ingredient, unfortunately, does not exist, there are some ingredients we put in the greatest hits category.
“Our favourites are exfoliants, retinol, peptides, and of course, sunscreen. These ingredients have been used for decades, are backed with sound science, and are considered gold-standards in the dermatology community.”
