Honeymoon Hotspot: Phuket, Thailand

The stunning natural beauty of Thailand’s largest island has long been a draw for honeymooners. There are endless white sandy beaches, electric blue seas, and some of the best tropical sunsets in the world at Asia’s most popular beach destination.

Whether it’s world-class diving in the Andaman Sea, golf at international-standard championship courses, exciting eco-adventures in tropical forests, or simply relaxing on the beach, Phuket is a fabulous honeymoon destination. The island also features a vibrant nightlife and plenty of great restaurants – from the high-end to simple street stalls – all showcasing the exciting, piquant cuisine of Thailand. When you’ve had enough of lazy days at the beach, take a trip to some of the many Buddhist temples. Other must-dos include : a romantic boat ride to the stunning Phi Phi islands, and experiencing the art of Thai Massage.

When to visit

Phuket is a year round holiday destination, but there is a ‘dry season’ from January to March where consistently fine weather draws the largest number of tourists. Keep in mind that roads are busy at this time of year, and that you can strike good weather at any time of year in Phuket. You can still enjoy a wonderful tropical vacation during the less busy times, but for a lot less money than travelling in the high season.

Getting around

Getting around Phuket is easy. Most of the beach resorts are small enough to walk around and most hotels are located close to the beach, restaurants and shopping areas. If you’d rather not walk, or if your hotel is not on one of the main beaches, your hotel can arrange for a taxi or tuk tuk. If you want to explore the island on your own, there are plenty of places to hire cars or take the local bus.
