While Jordie and Lucy had met once before, it was during a night out with friends that sparks began to fly.

With Lucy getting butterflies in her stomach just being near Jordie, and Jordie being amazed by Lucy’s grace and beauty from the moment she walked into the room, the connection was obvious.

“I knew straight away that there was something special about Lucy even though I had no idea at the time that she would be the girl of my dreams!” says Jordie.

As things developed, Jordie and Lucy realised they had experienced small ties to each other throughout their lives, but just didn’t know it at the time. They also realised they had a great deal in common.

“We think that we were meant to be together,” Lucy says.

Jordie proposed to Lucy during a stay at Stewarts Bay Lodge, following a Port Arthur ghost tour. After convincing Lucy to come out on their deck to look at the stars (which she initially said no to, because of the freezing weather), Jordie dropped to one knee and asked Lucy to be his bride. Her answer was an immediate “yes!”

Jordie and Lucy were married at the historic Entally Estate, at Hadspen, which both of them had family ties to.

“I spent time there as a child staying at the caretaker’s cottage with an Aunty and Jordie’s Nan was born there,” Lucy says.

Lucy especially loved the look and style of the Estate, which tied in nicely with their vintage wedding theme.

The ceremony, which was open to all family and friends, was followed by a much smaller reception at The Tramsheds Function Centre, in nearby Launceston.

Perfect weather and walking down the aisle and seeing Jordie were wedding day highlights for Lucy. Jordie also loved seeing Lucy arrive at the ceremony.

Another highlight for the couple was the guest book from their reception, which was compiled from shots taken with a Polaroid camera left on the guest book table.

The speeches, group dancing and Jordie’s spectacular prowess at removing Lucy’s garter with his teeth, also featured as great wedding day moments.

Lucy’s sister Josie’s amazing feat of wearing high heels all day and evening, despite being eight months pregnant, was also an amazing achievement!

“It was the best day of both our lives – a big celebration with everyone that we love,” Lucy says. “It was everything I hoped it would be and more.”

The only real regret of the day was that Lucy didn’t get a chance to have a photo taken with her Mum Jacquie, who left to check on the reception venue before the family photos were taken.

Lucy and Jordie enjoyed a romantic Queensland cruise, despite discovering their honeymoon room had single bunk beds!

“We had the best time drinking cocktails all day, and snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef,” says Lucy.

• Try and take time some time out just for the two of you.

• Make sure family members know they will be needed for family photos, so they aren’t left out of the photographs.

• Don’t stress about what you have no control over as what you think is a big deal is not noticed by others. ❤
