We give you the lowdown on what could possibly be the world’s most elaborate wedding…
You’re forgiven if the names Chiara Ferragni and Fedez Lucia don’t garner immediate recognition. Chiara is a fashion blogger and “influencer” (she boasts a cool 14.6 million followers on Instagram at last count) and Fedez is an Italian rapper.
The pair appeared on our radar after tying the knot in Sicily over the weekend in what is possibly the world’s most over-the-top and elaborate wedding… ever!
Bespoke haute couture dresses, private jets, thousands of roses, a Ferris wheel, a merry-go-round… the wedding was more like a Baz Luhrmann -inspired Hollywood production.
The festivities kicked off with the couple flying their wedding guests on private Alitalia flights branded with their hashtag #TheFerragnez to Sicily, and exchanging vows at Dimora delle Balze, a secluded 19th-century palazzo in Noto.
In true millennial style the three day destination wedding unfolded in real-time over Instagram, with some of the more drool-worthy shots including breathtaking floral installations, an elaborate fireworks display and no less than three custom Dior wedding dresses (designed by Dior Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri).
The bride’s first dress was a romantic lace gown with a lace bodice, mock neckline, and a semi-sheer full tulle skirt with an impressively long train.
She also wore a full-length veil, and finished the look off with a pair of white custom Dior shoes, which featured her name on the slingback where the brand’s name typically sits.
Chiara’s second outfit change was a nude fairytale-inspired ball gown with a tulle skirt, which featured romantic phrases, motifs and emblems, including an image of a Lion for the couple’s son Leone, monograms made of their initials and a heart on the bodice, all delicately embroidered into the champagne tulle.
For her final look, she replaced her long skirt with a shorter ballerina-style tutu.
While most of the touches from this elaborate wedding may be beyond most budgets, we can always dream, right?
